“CARRY THE LIGHT” DEDICATION WEEKEND
On January 13, 2006, candles flickered outside the doors of the Malmö Adventkyrka, Sweden, welcoming those who had come to take part in dedicating LifeStyleTV—a new Christian TV channel— to God. Just fifteen minutes before the dedication program started, LifeStyleTV started airing into millions of homes throughout Scandinavia.
The theme for the weekend was “Carry the Light”. Friday night Danny Shelton, 3ABN President, shared his experiences of God’s provision for 3ABN’s ministry. “If you want to reach your family, He’ll let you do it. If you want to reach the world, He’ll let you do it.” God’s business is to reach and save souls, and He has the resources to help you accomplish great things if you're willing to take the first step.
The weekend was packed with interesting and inspiring services. Tor Tjeransen, President of the Norwegien Union of Seventh-day Adventists, spoke about the power of TV ministry and the "Babylon Koden" net series airing on LifeStyleTV. Björn Ottesen, President of the Swedish Union of Seventh-day Adventists, challenged the congregation to a practical faith that is active in leading people to know Jesus for themselves.
Music was an integral part of the weekend. The congregation had an opportunity to dedicate themselves to God's service as they sung the theme song "Here I am Lord…" There were a few teary eyes in the afternoon concert, especially with the heartwarming rendition of “The Holy City”. The Grenna Singers ended the concert by singing “Carry the Light” in Swedish.
The high point of the weekend came at the dedication service which aired live on 3ABN. Claus Nybo, LifeStyleTV President, shared along with others guests the Lord's miraculous leading in this venture of faith.
The dedication evening finished with candles of commitment being lit. The beginning of carrying the light of the gospel to Scandinavia had begun in a new and exciting way.
